Something fabulous off Annie's new album...

If you want to read the back story behind Annie's amazing second album (short version: first-single-flopped-on-major-label-album-was-cancelled-but-picked-up-by-hipster-indie-label-and-rejigged-with-new-tracks-and-far-superior-artwork) then click here. We haven't covered it extensively but you can piece the puzzle together, or something... This is one of the new tracks on the FINALLY released Don't Stop and it has a wonderful shit-indie-band-baiting chorus to rival Girls Aloud's controversial b-side "Hoxton Heroes". If you don't know what we're on about, best to skip this post and just wait for the next one...

Well it's better than not getting a video at all...

An Annie video, stitched together from footage done on the set of her album artwork shoot.

More fabulous Annie news...*

Annie is releasing "Songs Remind Me of You" as the lead single from her repackaged version of Don't Stop and to be honest, it should have been the lead single all along. As well as being the by far the best song on the album, it's also probably the best song she's ever done full stop. As you can see the accompanying artwork is appropriately 'fab' (complete with Dlisted approved eyebrows), and the song is now available to download as some sort of iTunes exclusive (apparently). We say 'apparently' because we know almost nothing, being both too lazy to google and too lowly to get emailed press releases. Anyway, enjoy.

*We considered calling this post 'I Know UR Eyebrows Hate Me', but thought better of it, in case the Terrible Journalism Police came knocking on our door(s).

[Don't] STOP PRESS!!!

Don't Stop by Annie is not an album we particularly took to first time round. We should have done, but for whatever reasons we didn't. I mean, take one icy Scandinavian songstrel with an idiosyncratic vocal style, add Xenomania and the results should be spectacular, shouldn't they? Maybe we were 'in the wrong place' in our lives, maybe we just 'needed space', maybe it was never meant to be... but, pop masterpiece "Songs Remind Me of You" aside, it didn't happen for us. It didn't really happen for Annie, either, because post-first-single-floppage the whole project was canned and eventually leaked to the internet.

But never fear, for it is 'hipster-indie-label-to-the-rescue' time! Apparently Smalltown Supersound are to release it, with a new tracklist, a new cover (up there, isn't it just deliciously good?) and a couple of new songs... here's the new tracklist below:
01 "Hey Annie"
02 "My Love Is Better"
03 "Bad Times"
04 "Don't Stop"
05 "I Don't Like Your Band"
06 "Songs Remind Me of You"
07 "Marie Cherie"
08 "Take You Home"
09 "The Breakfast Song"
10 "Loco"
11 "When the Night"
12 "Heaven and Hell"
As far as we can tell, they've removed "I Know UR Girlfriend Hates Me" (WHY!?!), "Sweet" and "I Can't Let Go" and replaced them with "Hey Annie", "I Don't Like Your Band" and "Don't Stop". We're not sure what this will do for our iTunes OCD, but we're sure it ain't good.

We were going to mention this at some point...

Annie's last album, Don't Stop, which was going to be her first big major label smash hit pop opus, never got off the ground and had its release cancelled due to the major floppage of its lead single.

For a while there were rumours that the whole thing would just be forgotten and left unreleased forever as Annie and her label parted ways but now, apparently it's going to get released bigger and better than before.

"Anthonio" is supposedly a new track from this new version, although it might just be a standalone single, we have no idea (and can't be bothered to check).

Anyway we like the single. It's rather good. We also like the Designer Drugs Remix (we must be the last blog in the world to mention this) and we hope Annie all the best.

Unfortunately we don't think her icy delivery and hautily superior pop is ever going to catch on, but it'll have straight male music bloggers wanking onto their keyboards for the rest of eternity, so... nevermind.
