Shiny & New Outing Again!

Oh. My. God. Omgodz.
  • Seeing Beyoncé for the first time; AMAZING. We felt like were truly witnessing a superstar at the height of her game.
  • The DVD was being filmed today. Yay for there being a DVD, yay for us being there when it was, and massive yay yay yay for Jay Z coming out in "Crazy in Love" and Kanye West doing his rap at the start of "Ego" for the DVD!
  • Loved so many things. "Broken Hearted Girl" really worked for us whereas it didn't work so much on the CD, and we finally 'got' "Halo". Loved the MJ tribute. Loved it when she got off the stage and shook all the hands of the people on the front row - it was so moving seeing girls actually collapsing in tears, as we probably would be doing. To see a superstar like her come from the stage and be really humble and touch her fans - very Princess Di!
  • The interlude videos were excellently done. So far we have only been impressed with Madonna's concert-exclusive videos (her re-inventions of "Bedtime Story" and "Die Another Day" are epic), as other peoples tend to be a let down - Britney's were shocking, Pink's were actually quite good, Christina's were mediocre but the "Sweet Dreams" leopard video was fantastic, the "I Am.../Survivor" video was fab and spine-tingling, and the Sasha Fierce re-invention of "Upgrade U" was amazing.
  • We were a bit disappointed with the amount of time Bey-Bey spent off stage. Some of our favourite parts of songs were played from the CD during a costume change; the "Get Me Bodied" rap, half of the Destiny's Child medley. But we guess in a show that length she had to constrict some of them. Also a bit of a shame that she only did two thirds or even half of some songs - "Upgrade U" stands out immediately and she only did a line of "Deja Vu" and "Suga Mama".
  • The costumes were absolutely stunning! Thank god she ditched Mama Dereon for this tour's costumes. Thierry Mugler's outfits were perfect for the Sasha Fierce theme - fierce, camp, 80s, powerful.
  • We feel so lucky to not only be able to see Beyoncé Knowles for free (thank you Trident and my boyfriend!) but to see her on stage with legends-in-the-making such as Jay-Z, Kanye - and ESPECIALLY her band. How powerful and inspiring to have her backed by a (quite large) band of musicians at the top of their game. Her back up singers, her guitarists, her drummers, the pianist - all of them were stunningly talented and Beyoncé seemed glad to show them off, as she should have been.
Thank you Beyoncé, thank you Trident. See you next tour!
