Going for Gold: The Shakira Story

Shakira's new single in the US is NOT the fabulous and dreamy Pharrell-produced "Did It Again". No, it's this Timbaland-helmed, Lil Wayne-featuring 'choon' called, inventively (not), "Give It Up To Me".

It all sounds a bit 'we had this on hold for someone, anyone but Shakira snapped it up first'. It sounds a bit Timbaland-on-autopilot. It's a bit disappointing considering the wealth of fantastic songs already on Shakira's new album, She Wolf. We understand that Ms. Shaki (or her record label) are chasing that all-important US Billboard Hot 100 hit, and that this may well help them achieve it... but still. It's a bit 'selling out' meets 'this'll do'.

It is catchy, though.
