Do you think you can actually handle this?

Have you ever yearned for a concept album about the life of Imelda Marcos? No? Are you sure? How can you be certain that subconsciously, all this time, you haven't been secretly pining for a concept album about the one-time First Lady of the Philippines? What's that? Crafted by David Byrne in conjunction with Fatboy Slim? No? That's not a dream come true for you? You're not even interested? You don't really give a shit?

How about if we were to tell you that this album, Here Lies Love, is going to feature (*clears throat, drum roll*)
  • Tori Amos
  • Cyndi Lauper
  • Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine)
  • Martha Wainwright
  • Nellie McKay
  • Róisín Murphy
  • Camille
  • Sia
  • Santigold
  • Shara Worden (of My Brightest Diamond)
  • St. Vincent
  • AND
  • various others...
WELL WHAT ABOUT NOW? ARE YOU EXCITED NOW? Of course you are: this could either be the best thing ever to have been created ever. It could be an album of such monolithic brilliance and unadulterated gayness, that the world would stop rotating for ONE SECOND, just to bat its eyelashes. On the other hand, it could be utterly terrible, or even worse, completely snoozeworthy. After all, we got ourselves all in a lather about the N.A.S.A. album earlier this year. It seemed so promising... it had Kanye, Santigold, Lykke Li, Karen O, Amanda Blank, Lovefoxxx and M.I.A. on it. And yet, still, it's sitting abandoned and gently rusting in our iTunes, with only one song off-it, (the monumental "Gifted") garnering any repeated interest. The two projects even have David Byrne in common!

Anyway, we shall endeavour to remain positive. You never know, it could, as we mentioned before, be so mind-bogglingly good, the entire music industry would have to pause momentarily to cool itself seductively with a Spanish fan.
