Basement Jaxx are one of those bands who we wouldn't classify as an act we listen to regularly, but do have a penchant for a song from their back catalogue now and then. They have made some of the best dance pop of the past decade and a half, complete with innovative and exciting videos. "Romeo", "Rendez-vous" and "Good Luck" are just some of their finest work.
Their new single, "Raindrops", has been uploaded to their MySpace and expectedly is quite good. The vocals are a bit too vocoded and processed for our liking, they could have used thingy from the Ordinary Boys for all we know, but the music is packed full of that spine-tingling euphoria you get now and then which makes you take a deep, deep breath in and smile at how good your life is right now. Or was that just us? It would be good to hear it on a dancefloor sometime soon.
Check it out.
(p.s. from a geeky graphic design point of view, we always give acts extra credits for using the same logo for their entire career, you know, Nelly Furtado, Mariah Carey (bleurgh), and well done Basement Jaxx. We always love their artwork too)
