We've been a very naughty blog because we've forgotten to write about Marina & The Diamonds. Unfortunately, most lazy media outlets have lumped her in with other new female artists like La Roux, Little Boots and Lady GaGa. This is wrong because she is nothing like them. She's even 'gone on record' to say she doesn't even know what a synth is, so good on her. What she DOES sound like, is a British Regina Spektor. This is a very good thing indeed.
Above is the video for what we THINK is the proper 'first' single and it's a winning thing, int it? We like that they've gone for something simple and stylistically arresting as opposed to attempting something high budget and not quite pulling it off.
