Jay-Z's new single, "D.O.A. (Death of Autotune)" is produced by Kanye West, ironically enough. Apparently after having crafted an entire album out of autotune, Ms. K-West is back-peddling faster than Mariah Carey in shark infested waters (!?) and producing a song all about why it is whack, yo. The track also features a sample of "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" something that has already been covered by Bananarama and sampled this year by both Kristinia DeBarge and Wale. It's quite a good song. Some choice lyrics:
Only rapper to rewrite history without a pen
This is anti autotune, death of the ringtone
This ain’t for itunes, this ain’t for sing alongs
This is Sinatra at the opera
This ain’t a number one record, this is practically assault with a deadly weapon
I might wear black for a year straight, I might bring back Versace shades
