Dragonette: still amazing, then.

"Gone Too Far" is NOT the new Dragonette single then, despite some ridiculously good artwork. This is. It's called "Pick Up The Phone" and like "Take It Like A Man" from their first album, it's a pop song that slides under your skin, and wins your heart despite being completely unassuming. It's something really hard to carry off, but Dragonette do it with aplomb. If you can think of another synth-pop band who can do midtempo songs that do not SCREAM their arrival at you, do not contain self-consciously bizarre musical instrumentation, structure or ridiculous lyrics, and yet STILL pound on your heart, then let us know of them. Because as far as we're concerned Dragonette are the leaders in that very specialist field.
