This Friday, the two founding members of 'the Shiny and the New' will be travelling to Londinium to partake in a very special Tori Amos live experience. This will be our first time, and excitement levels are at an all time high. Last night, the ginger goddess played her first UK date in Manchester and the set list was as follows:
- "Give"
- "Caught a Lite Sneeze"
- "Cornflake Girl'
- "Icicle"
- "Pancake"
- "Space Dog"
- "Lust"
- "Jamaica Inn"
- "Welcome to England"
- "Northern Lad"
- "Take Me With You"
- "Mother"
- "Putting the Damage On"
- "The Power of Orange Knickers"
- "Fast Horse"
- "Precious Things"
- "Strong Black Vine"
- "Big Wheel"
- "Tear in Your Hand"
As far as we can see, Tori has started almost every show on the tour with vampire torch song "Give", an atmospheric opener, and closed every show with American Doll Posse's country barnstormer, "Big Wheel" (plus encore). Apart from that, every show has had a different set list. As well as her standards ("Cornflake Girl", "Caught A Lite Sneeze", "Precious Things") she's performed an enormous variety of songs. But as far as we can see, last night's was the best. Coupling fan favourites, including epic break-up ballad "Northern Lad" and the soft-buttery horns of "Putting the Damage On", Ms. Nimble Fingers threw in "Space Dog", "Icicle", "The Power of Orange Knickers" (originally featuring Damien Rice) and the Daphne du Maurier-inspired "Jamaica Inn". If she finishes with the heartbreaking "Tear In Your Hand" on friday there will be some wet knickers in the audience. And no dry eyes.
