4 amazing things about Shakira's album...

  1. It doesn't even come close to dragging on. If you discount the three Spanish versions at the end of the work, it comes in at only 9 tracks. That's right. NINE. That sounds like you're being short-changed, but you aren't. It's a fabulous length for a pop album, and each track is so good, there's no room for mind-numbing filler.
  2. It sounds like a Shakira album. Even though the sound is updated (i.e. there are synths) it's still unmistakably her at the helm.
  3. Some of the lyrics are just bonkers, as we've come to expect and desire from Ms. Shakki: on "Why Wait" she rhymes 'intuition' with 'premonition'. And she writes all her own lyrics. You wouldn't get any other major label worldwide chart-topping superstars doing that.
  4. Even Wyclef Jean can't ruin it.
