Yes, the beginning does conjure imagery of that wonderfully original songsmith Jason Mraz or his equally glorious friend Jack Johnson, but give this song a chance. It runs over you like cool coconut milk, seeping into all your nooks and crannies - or rolls of flab in our case. The uplifting chorus really does grab you and before you know it you're dancing with Shakira herself in a colourful Colombian village. Well maybe not that specific, but it takes you far from where you are. We love Shakira's new album, and are vastly impressed with the experimentation she has been taking with her sound - we adore it, keep it up Shak - but it is refreshing and pleasing to hear a song taking on a more classic Shakira sound in the midst of her newer musical orientation.
I'm a gypsy, well are you coming with me?
I might steal your clothes and wear them if they fit me
I don't make agreements, just like a gypsy
And I won't back down cos life's already hurt me
