- This is the cover of Marina & The Diamonds' debut proper album. It is called The Family Jewels. It has a lovely cover that looks a bit like an old grandma's carpet bag mixed with one of those airbrushed handbags of Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe you can get down rubbish markets (= fantastic).
- There have been so many 'proper first singles' from this campaign, it was all beginning to come off a bit VV Brown. Her proper proper PROPER first proper single is "Hollywood". You can watch the utterly brillo video here.
- In it, Marina plays a sort of over-zealous cheerleader who has decided to make a dress out of the American flag, much like Julie Andrews and her curtains-fetish in 'The Sound of Music'. She sings ominously and ironically about American Dreamzzz. It is so totally and utterly up our street, we're not quite sure where to start with it all. It has a v. good tune, the styling is glossy, dark and fun. And it's quite clever, we think (it's Sunday, don't make us justify things we've said).
- We have no idea when the single is out. We haven't seen the single coverart. We are, quite literally, useless.
- But still, such FUN.
- Here's a tracklist.
