Perhaps an unusual choice, but today since the moment we woke up, for some bizarre reason we have not been able to escape from the hook in this song. Possibly a typical Radio 2 song (that isn't an insult by the way, Radio 2 revere Madonna), this heart-breaking soul ballad was written by the singer, an American unknown in her home country, and hit the top of the UK charts in 1985. She was never heard from again, apparently. The simple yet powerful lyrics cannot fail to move the listener and it's plain to hear that the undiluted, raw passion and hunger lie in the words she sings so beautifully.
