Yesterday the 'countdown' on Christina de la Aguilera's website unveiled the lyrics to her new single, "Not Myself Tonight". Despite the name of the single being top trumps, and the artwork being fairly nifty, these lyrics were not not bad. That is to say, they were shit. They're still shit, but we're reserving judgement because lots of AMAZING pop songs have terrible lyrics. Well, terrible in the context of a block of text, but not terrible whence yelped over some exciting synths.Today the countdown revealed the artwork for Xtina's forthcoming album, Bionic, above, and as you can see: it's amazing. It's like Princess Leia via Marlene Dietrich after watching A Clockwork Orange (yes, one of 'those' analogies). It also revealed some dates you might want for your diary:
- 26th of March 2010 - "Not Myself Tonight" exclusive preview.
- 30th of March 2010 - "Not Myself Tonight" premieres on christinaaguilera.com.
- 5th of April 2010 - "Not Myself Tonight" 'impacts' radio, whatever that means.
- 13th of April 2010 - "Not Myself Tonight" 'hits' iTunes.
- 8th of June 2010 - Bionic is released everywhere.
Bionic features songs co-written by Aguilera along with her much buzzed about collaborations including Sia, Tricky Stewart, Polow Da Don, Le Tigre, Hill & Switch, and Ladytron among othersThank the LORD. If only they'd find a way to release the Goldfrapp collab as a b-side or bonus track. Now here's a countdown to the album (be warned, it's a fucking long one and we all know a watched countdown never boils, or something, so just ignore it and move on in life):
