Well you can. A snippet, to be precise, and in hideously low quality, but it's her next single nonetheless. Here, also, below is a snap from the video for "Only Girl (In The World)". Can't glean much from either, can you?
We have to say, despite bizarre retroactive-backlash in that area, we were enormous fans of the Rated R era. We would never denigrate or talk dismissively about pure pop, and loved Rihanna before she went all nu goth on our asses, but we can't help but feel perhaps something's missing from this time round? Let us reiterate: what was best for us about Rated R and everything that happened during its reign was the consistency of the imagery and sound and the risks, cohesion and bravery. We're not fans of dubstep, we don't really listen to much 'rock' (we don't not listen to it either) and we don't immediately deem someone an artiste just because they went 'dark' (an irritating expression anyway that just conjures images of children's fantasy films). We've only heard 1 song, seen one single sleeve and watched one promo video that supposedly has nothing to do with the campaign so far, but the whole thing doesn't seem as themed as before. That's our problem. Not that we don't want Rihanna to make jubilant, euphoric pop.
Anyway as with most concerns of this ilk we're just gonna wait it out and see.
