Pretty artwork to pass the time...

Ellie Goulding hasn't set our world alight, and to be frank, it's pretty much her own fault. Now, we don't want to senselessly 'whale' on her (isn't that what the Amerikans say?) and we're certainly not trying to convert you or savage her reputation etc. BUT, our slight distaste for her is founded, not in her music, which shows a hell of a lot of skill and promise, but her, herself. In the 90s, women matched ceaselessly inventive music with intelligence, wit and feminist attitude, and Ellie Goulding is matching her music with a desire for normalcy, a lack of intelligence, humour or self-awareness and a set of opinions that grate.

Basically: we still haven't forgiven her for doing that Company interview where she said she wasn't a feminist, and then began to describe why, showing a total lack of knowledge in the area, and revealing herself to not even know what the word 'feminist' means. In the same interview Marina charmed us.

Anyway: nice tunes, bit thick.

This is her deluxe 2cd rerelease (everyone's doing them now, dontcha know) entitled, cleverly (or not cleverly, depending on your bent on this sort of thing... ooh 'bent'!) Bright Lights. It has pretty artwork. Tracklist below:
