This here writer hasn't written for S&N in 'a bit', and we feels like we've been neglectinz ya. Luckily you've not been short of quality stuff to read, but we feel like a bad parent. In turn, we feel a tad neglected by Ms. Carlsson. After twelve months of Robynness, it's safe to say we are experiencing the sort of pangs one only receives from a loss of new Swedish pop. Lykke Li's return is softening the blow, but we've had to make do with scouring YouTube for interesting live videos - and boy did we find one.
At a recent show in Minneapolis (Princeville), she covered one of the Purple One's finest ditties, "When Doves Cry". Stripped back to almost just a beat and her voice, the synths kick in at the end imitating the original's characteristic melancholy (something Robyn knows all about). Launching straight away into an amazing cover of ABBA's "Dancing Queen" but as "Dance Hall Queen", the track followed into her live version of "Show Me Love". It's moments like this that Robyn fans beat their fannies thinking about.
Enjoy!
