One step closer to Biophilia

Today Lady Fortune shone on Shiny & New and pointed us in the direction of four videos on YouTube posted by a 'MrBiophilia'. Excitingly, they seem to provide glimpses into the finished product of four years of work by Queen Icelandic Jungle Bitch Mother, known by lesser mortals as Björk. There's much to be said on expectations for the album, taking into account both 2007's Volta and where Björk stands in her career now, but there is another time for that. For now, it is only appropriate to foam at the mouth over the incredibly intriguing music pumping out of our speakers right now. Our first thoughts, annoyingly, were "This sounds a lot like Debut and Post" - as Björk stans, we should know better, but it's true; the beats and dance-like feel have not been heard in her work since 1995.

Two of the videos portray iamwhoiamwhoami-like zooms into what possibly may be the album artwork. Returning to the canon broken by Volta of each album focusing on Björk giving excellent face above the shoulders, the ferocity emitting from the image is far too much to handle. Pissed off eyes surrounded by fire and hair - could this possibly be the most amazing artwork yet?

All will soon be revealed. Only a month and a half until we see Björk for the first time ever. Which will be an event in itself, with or without new material. Both writers of S&N hold this lady in the highest esteem we can bestow on an artist, and the music she's created has appeared at some of the most crucial points of the past half-decade in our lives. Long live Björk, long live Biophilia.
