Doesn't Get Cooler, Appaz

Recently this 20-year-old firecracker topped the NME cool list. Well done to her. We don't quite know if that's the kiss of death or the start of a wonderful fruitful career. The jury's out. It could go either way.

Anyway this is the song/video that's been gettin' her all the attention. Much like Kreayshawn, Lana Del Rey and Iggy Azalea, Ms. Banks seems to be creating buzz for herself by not waiting around for a label to fund her big budget debut, but instead putting an eyecatching but cheaply made video out herself. We like this new approach. Of course, the cynic in us (there's a cynic in us??) thinks this was probably funded by a big-budget label anyway to create buzz and make her seem like a plucky up and comer. But either way. If it inspires other young unknown artists to take matters into their own hands, that's good, right?

Whether or not you enjoy this song all hinges on your appetite for lyrics like "I guess this cunt's gettin' eaten". For the record, we like it a lot.
