Amazing Pop That Isn't Girls Aloud

Amidst the absolute pandemonium surrounding the leak of Girls Aloud's new single, "The Promise" (it's sort of retro-inspired but NOT SHIT... a master feat indeed), we thought it might be pertinent to mention some VERY GOOD POP MUSIC that doesn't even come from England (we know... bit of a shocker that).

First up is a song called "Degeneration" by Mylène Farmer. Aside from the fact that the song is "quite good", the video is absolutely MIND-BLOWING. Mylène is sort of the French Madonna apparently (there's one in every country), but apart from that we can't tell you anything. We're too lazy to go wikipedia-ing today, so do it for yourselves. In her Fifth-Element inspired video, Mylène is tied down in some sort of military experimentation centre and starts writhing around causing the soldiers and medicinal staff around her to start writhing erotically too. There's even gay snogging. It's the kind of uber-gay thing that would absolutely bomb in England and America but in Europe it absolutely works and recently went to number 1 in France.

I'd love to post the video but ever single fucking one of them on youtube has been deleted, so you'll have to imagine it.

Next up are Monrose, German girl band, and officially the second best girl band in the world (Sugababes lost that title a while back, keep up). Whilst their new album, I Am, is not shaping up to be quite the pop masterpiece that their second album, Strictly Physical, was, they've nevertheless already released two rather amazing singles from it: the rather underrated Strike The Match, and now Hit N Run.

The latter sounds like it could be a British Chart Dance single but is also simultaneously a proper pop song. The video is predictably cheap and tacky but so amazing for it. In it, the girls, looking like poodles, ponce around a rollerrink. Priceless.

And finally, Korean megastar BoA is about to release her American debut and to be frank, even from this tiny little teaser clip of the video you can tell it's fucking amazing:
