A 'good' Monrose video...

In case you didn't know, Monrose are the second best girl band in the world (after Girls Aloud, naturally) and here at Shiny & New, what with being raging homosexualists, we LOVE us some girl bands.

Anyway Monrose were created during Season 5 of German Popstars (correct me if I'm wrong) and achieved GREAT initial success with odd uptempo pop ballad (yes it's possible) 'Shame'. Breaking the law of "all-reality-tv-made-bands-must-be-shit-and-not-make-it-to-album-number-2" they came storming back with amazing comeback single Hot Summer which went to number 1 in three countries and established them as a hot pop item on the blogosphere (Popjustice said: "Timbaland producing Girls Aloud").

For their third album, however, some odd and silly single choices have been made and the marketing has been less than standard, meaning Monrose are slipping out of the musical consciousness.

Never fear, however, because they're trying to go international (by appearing on Craig David's Greatest Hits... I know. bare with me) and releasing THIS (above) their new single "Why Not Us". It's one of the best songs on the album and has an AMAZING second chorus. It also sounds a bit like a gay rights anthem if you listen to the lyrics and the video (whilst not quite in the realms of amazing) is SO much better than anything else they've ever done it sort of makes up for it.

Swings and roundabouts.

Anyway enjoy.
