Everything about this video is completely gratuitous. The 45 second 'spaghetti western' introduction. The epilepsy-inducing flickering (a hallmark of director Hype Williams). The bumping, the grinding. The abundance of guns (!). The way Beyoncé strokes a long rifle and then jiggles her breasts extremely forcefully at the 2:50 mark. The bubblegum colour palette. The fact that Lady GaGa's in it at all, let alone doing her best 'ghetto gurrrl' impression.
Having said that we think we love it. Maybe it's Beyoncé's fetching Bettie Page wig, the fact that both Ms. Knowles and Ms. Germanotta look ridiculously hot, or the fact that we have horrendously dodgy taste, but we found the whole experience very enjoyable. We'll never know. Bring on GaGa's "Telephone"!
