So. It is with much trepidation that we bring you her new song "The Comet Song", for the children's film, The Moomins and the Comet Chase. You can watch the video here (a nice embeddable youtube link would've been preferred) and you can buy it on iTunes from tomorrow, which it's probably a good idea to do, even if you hate it, cuz the proceeds benefit UNICEF Pakistan childrens charities. So buy it.
Anyway, the song is a total nutjob. Rhythmically and melodically over the place. It's quite sweet on repetition, and this particular write digs it, because he digs Björk's 'weird stuff' (as one might eloquently call it) but FOR A KID'S FILM?! We assume this film is for children, because it's stopmotion animation and it's based on the Moomins, and if we're right, what is B playing at making something so musically 'avant-garde' for something aimed at kiddywinks? Bizarre. You should make up your mind for youself.
And yes, we know one might respond "LET BJÖRK DO WHAT SHE WANTS SHE'S A MAVERICK BLAH BLAH BLAH". And, yes, it's nice to always be surprised by her. But she's capable of really lush and beautiful melodies, harmonies and arrangements and it seems odd that she wouldn't employ these considering what the song is actually for.
