Absolutely wunderbar

Sometimes your brain can't help but conjure some form of accompanying visual to the sounds you're experiencing exposure to. Upon first listen of Tumblr duchess Apollo's latest, "Blue Lips", we were overcome with a very odd transient state in which we imagined large bouquets of flowers - some in vases, some lying limply on an antique sideboard - combusting into smithereens after being shot at with large guns. Is this what he intended for the listener? We can only dream, but you may experience something similar, especially when you reach the four-to-the-floor dream of a chorus. A bubbling gumbo pot of enchanting bells, lung-swelling strings, haunting female backing vocals and that all-important call-to-arms drum beat, it sounds like nothing in the charts but still manages to scream 'pop gold'. The craftsmanship is evident to all but the most inane listener, and makes most of 2012'a thus-far 'pop/electro singer-songwriter' output pale in comparison. Marvellous.
